Recent research is evaluating the feasibility of applying the Quintuple Helix Development Model in Indonesia, particularly in addressing the complexity of environmental issues and integrated rural development. This model emphasizes collaboration between five key actors, namely the government, academia, industry, civil society, and the environment as central elements of sustainable development.
The results of the study show that the revitalization and sustainable development of villages require the involvement of various organizations and industrial sectors, as well as attention to the spatial characteristics of the region. More structured management of rural land and the provision of new incentives are considered important to encourage more effective land use, while strengthening the connection between urban and rural areas.
This study also identifies a number of key factors for sustainability in integrated rural development. These include spatial and temporal aspects, the challenges of rural-urban integration, and the role of transportation infrastructure in supporting rural industrial integration. Thus, rural development is not only oriented toward the economic sector but also emphasizes social and ecological balance.
In addition, equitable access to basic public services and institutional adjustments are considered crucial in realizing inclusive village-city integration. Through the Quintuple Helix approach, it is hoped that a more resilient and equitable rural development strategy will emerge, one that is capable of responding to environmental dynamics and community needs in a sustainable manner.
